I have always been drawn to the natural world for inspiration throughout my artistic explorations. My fascination with gourds has been my most recent endeavor. Gourds, with their earthiness and almost infinite variety of shape and form, communicate to me and I listen. With no preconceived idea in mind, each gourd tells me what it will become.
Most of the gourds I use for my art I have grown myself. The entire process – from planting to harvesting and from cleaning and creating each into a new art form – is so amazing and gratifying to me.
Over the years, I have also dabbled with paper arts creating handmade books, boxes, paper and most recently, marbled paper.
